Meanwhile, the legendary German race car driver is still recuperating from a skiing accident that happened on the Alps last December. Some time back, doctors attending to Schumacher in a university hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland said that the athlete was out of the medically-induced coma and was communicating with his family members by blinking his eyes.They furthered that the athlete would be allowed to go home and continue his recuperation if his progress remains satisfactory. Meanwhile, there was speculation that the Mercedes-Benz would reconsider the company's releationship with the Formula One champion, considering his injured state. However, the German car manufacturer has reportedly announced that it is eager to continue its sponsorship with the racing car legend, despite the fact that Schumacher is still not capable of communicating vocally.
It's worth mentioning that Mercedes-Benz appointed Schumacher as its brand ambassador in April 2013, soon after the legendary driver's Grand Prix campaign. Speaking with the German newspaper Bild recently, Dailmer chairman Dr.
Dieter Zetsche, said, 'We have given no thoughts to changing something in his contract.' When asked about the company's response to the celebrated driver's recent recovery, Zetsche expressed happiness with the development and said, 'We hope fervently that it continues.' However, Dailmer chairman said that he was not able to visit Schumacher either in the hospital or at the rehabilitation center following the tragic incident, as he 'respected the family's plea for privacy.'
In fact, Schumacher raced for Mercedes-Benz in Formula One between the 2010 and 2012 and reportedly earned €20 million. Following the accident which took place at an exclusive French skiing resort, the 45-year-old ace driver suffered a brain hemorrhage operation and subseqently slipped into a medically-induced coma. He snapped back into consciousness last June, and is currently undergoing treatment at Grenoble hospital in Switzerland.
